Every Sunday morning we begin with a time of sung worship – that is, singing songs to (and about) God.
Our worship style is contemporary, and led by members of our Worship Team. Our band features drums, keys, guitars, bass, saxophone, percussion, and vocals.
We sing a blend of modern worship songs, some hymns, and a growing number of ‘homegrown’ songs written right here at Northgate.
If you’d like to listen to some of our own songs, check out the Northgate Music page.
Why do we have to do the singing bit?
To ‘sing’ is one of the most commanded instructions in the Bible! We believe that God deserves our attention and praise, which is why we enter into a time of sung worship every week.
We want to make it as easy as possible for our congregation to meet with Jesus in worship, and as such we make sure the songs we sing are theologically sound, and singable.
But if singing isn’t something you feel very confident about, don’t worry. God isn’t asking everyone to sing like a degree-level vocalist, just that we offer up our own song to him, however that sounds.
Our fantastic sound engineers will make sure that the volume level is loud enough for your song to blend in with the music, as well as being able to hear yourself sing.

If you’re interested in becoming part of the Worship Team, first we ask that you attend Northgate Church for a decent period of time before serving in this capacity. We have a structured introductory process and Andy would be very happy to explain it if you’re interested.
