Youth Leader Job

Northgate Church Youth Leader

Northgate Church Chester are looking for someone who loves Jesus Christ and who has a passion to see young people know the love of Jesus for themselves, inside and beyond the church.  The role we are looking to fill carries overall responsibility for pioneering ministry amongst 11-18’s developing the youth ministry.

We intend the role to be as much about facilitating and equipping the wider church family’s ministry to this age bracket, rather than trying to do it all themselves. Yes, we want to appoint someone who is gifted in engaging with 11-18’s themselves, but there is a breadth of opportunities for ministry to young people, enough to stretch any one individual’s skills.  The successful applicant will show aptitude at raising up co-workers and leading teams – with the full support of the senior leader as line manager, and with appropriate training provided.

This is a pioneering role, suited to someone with vision, passion, and energy. You will be invited to imagine new opportunities and try out new initiatives without knowing whether they will succeed. In this you will have the enthusiastic support of the church leadership. Above all you will be a person of faith, willing to be shaped by God’s word and depending on His Holy Spirit.

ARE YOU WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR?

We’re looking to appoint a person who is:

  • Friendly, cheerful, positive and self-driven, with great communication skills, experienced in connecting with young people.

  • Passionate about nurturing the Christian faith of youth in our community, with a developing ability to teach the Bible to young people in different contexts.

  • Able to work as a key part of our ministry team, taking responsibility for leading, supporting and developing volunteers to deliver a programme of youth activities.

  • A committed Christian, who maintains a purposeful spiritual life of prayer and listening to God

We’d love to hear from you if you’ve got some experience of working with youth in a church context, especially if you:

  • can build relationships with young people (and enjoy having fun!)

  • have energy and ideas.

  • have a confident faith you can communicate.

This role involves overseeing our youth provision on a Sunday’s and mid-week youth meetings. You would be expected to become a committed member of Northgate Church if you are not already.

We’re offering 15 hours a week role initially on a one-year fixed contract. We’d support you to attend training and offer mentoring to help you develop and grow in your ministry.
